Velvet Underground
The Velvet Underground is a popular live music venue located in Toronto’s Queen Street West neighborhood. Originally opened in 2017, it quickly became known for its eclectic lineup of performers spanning various genres, including indie rock, electronic, and hip-hop.
The venue’s name pays homage to the iconic New York City nightclub that played a pivotal role in the development of the music scene in the 1960s and 1970s. While it shares the same name, the Toronto Velvet Underground has its own unique identity and has hosted a wide array of musicians and bands, both local and international.
Due to its central location in one of Toronto’s cultural hubs, the Velvet Underground has become a popular destination for music lovers seeking intimate live performances in a vibrant atmosphere. Its history may be relatively short compared to some other venues in the city, but its impact on the local music scene continues to grow.
