TLC is an American girl group formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1990. The group originally consisted of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas. They quickly rose to fame in the early 1990s with their unique blend of R&B, hip hop, and pop music.
TLC’s debut album, “Ooooooohhh… On the TLC Tip” (1992), showcased their infectious energy and fun-loving attitude, spawning hits like “Ain’t 2 Proud 2 Beg” and “What About Your Friends.” However, it was their second album, “CrazySexyCool” (1994), that catapulted them to superstardom. Featuring iconic singles such as “Creep,” “Waterfalls,” and “Red Light Special,” the album became one of the best-selling of all time by a girl group, winning multiple Grammy Awards and earning critical acclaim.
Tragically, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes passed away in a car accident in 2002, but TLC continued to release music as a duo. Their subsequent albums include “FanMail” (1999) and “3D” (2002). TLC’s impact on the music industry extends beyond their chart-topping hits; they were known for their bold fashion choices, socially conscious lyrics, and empowering messages.
TLC remains one of the best-selling girl groups of all time, with a legacy that continues to inspire new generations of artists.
