Green Day is an American punk rock band formed in 1986 in Berkeley, California. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. They are known for their energetic performances, catchy melodies, and socially and politically charged lyrics.

Green Day achieved mainstream success with their third studio album, “Dookie,” released in 1994. The album spawned hit singles like “Basket Case,” “When I Come Around,” and “Longview,” and it helped popularize punk rock music in the mainstream. Since then, they have released numerous successful albums, including “American Idiot” (2004), a rock opera that received critical acclaim and won multiple Grammy Awards.

Throughout their career, Green Day has maintained a strong fan base and has continued to release albums exploring various musical styles, from punk rock to pop-punk to alternative rock.
