Christina Perri is an American singer-songwriter known for her emotive ballads, heartfelt lyrics, and distinctive, soulful voice. Born on August 19, 1986, in Bensalem, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, Perri grew up in a musical household. She taught herself to play the guitar and piano as a teenager and always dreamed of a career in music.

After graduating high school, Perri briefly attended college before moving to Los Angeles at the age of 21 to pursue her musical ambitions. During this time, she worked as a waitress while writing songs and performing at local venues. Her big break came in 2010 when her song “Jar of Hearts” was featured on the television show So You Think You Can Dance. The haunting ballad, about breaking free from a toxic relationship, struck a chord with viewers and quickly went viral, climbing the charts and earning platinum certification.

Following the success of “Jar of Hearts,” Perri signed with Atlantic Records and released her debut album Lovestrong in 2011. The album showcased her emotional songwriting and raw vocal delivery, with standout tracks like “Arms” and “Distance”. It received positive reviews and solidified Perri’s place in the contemporary pop and singer-songwriter scenes.

In 2013, Perri released “A Thousand Years,” a romantic ballad written for the blockbuster film The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. The song became one of her most iconic hits, beloved for its tender lyrics and sweeping melody. It has since become a wedding favorite and one of the most streamed love songs worldwide.

Perri’s second studio album, Head or Heart, arrived in 2014, featuring singles such as “Human,” a stirring anthem about vulnerability and self-acceptance. The album demonstrated her growth as a songwriter and earned her further acclaim for her ability to capture complex emotions through simple, heartfelt lyrics.

Throughout her career, Christina Perri has been open about her personal struggles, including battles with anxiety, depression, and grief. In interviews and social media posts, she has candidly shared her journey through mental health challenges and personal loss. Perri married entertainment reporter Paul Costabile in December 2017, and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Carmella, in 2018.

Tragically, in 2020, Perri revealed she had suffered a stillbirth with their second daughter, Rosie, a heartbreaking experience she openly discussed in hopes of offering support to others facing similar losses. In 2022, Perri gave birth to a healthy daughter named Pixie Rose, a joyous moment she shared with her fans.

Known for her authenticity and deeply personal music, Christina Perri continues to create songs that resonate with listeners around the world. With her warm, expressive voice and honest storytelling, she remains a beloved figure in the pop and acoustic music scenes, admired for both her talent and her resilience.
